Helping the environment can start at home by being more conscious and saving a little in the process.

Current consumption patterns often lead us to buy products that we do not need or to buy disposable products. While it makes life easier for us to throw any waste or packaging in the trash, the problem comes later. For it is the environment that is impacted by the consumption of all human beings.

Consequences of excessive littering

The more waste is produced, the more space is needed to dispose of it. Space that takes from natural ecosystems and animal habitats. Much of the garbage never makes it to landfills but is dumped into rivers and oceans.

You can help the environment at home by looking for recycling points, sorting your garbage, or changing your consumption patterns.

Tips to reduce consumption

Shopping at the supermarket represents a consumption pattern that generally ends up with some unnecessary purchase or one that we find attractive. One way to help the environment is by minimizing these types of purchases and avoiding products that leave a considerably large pollution footprint.

Buying bottled water can be a necessity. However, filtering water with a commercial filter proves to be a more efficient practice and produces less contamination footprint. In the long run, filtering water also results in considerable savings.

Use natural or generic cleaning products . The chemical footprint left by industrial or concentrated cleaning products can even damage your health, so it is better to use natural products.

Plastic bags are another source of pollution that can be easily reduced. From a trip to a convenience store to a purchase at the pharmacy, we are given a plastic bag to carry our products. Cloth bags have already begun to displace plastic bags, although the transition is slow. That’s why we encourage you to use cloth bags.

Household appliances are a major source of pollution, especially due to their components and metals, some of which are toxic to humans if not disposed of properly. The advice is to use the appliances for their entire useful life, then dispose of them in special centers.
