Experts advise companies to pay more attention to internet security issues.
Over the years, cybercriminals have become more skilled at detecting common problems in the cloud. As a result, they can easily attempt cyberattacks. According to the Unit 42 Cloud Threat Report, Palo Alto Networks’ threat intelligence and research unit, it takes an organization’s security team 145 hours (approximately six days) to resolve a security alert.
Experts, therefore, recommend that organizations pay more attention to security systems in the cloud. Because, according to the same report, 90% of entities are unable to detect, contain, and resolve cyberattacks within one hour.
The report also notes that the workloads of 210,000 cloud accounts from 1,300 entities were analyzed and a variety of situations were found. In most entity clouds, 80% of the alerts are triggered by only 5% of the security protocols. In addition, 76% of companies do not apply MFA (Multifactor Authentication) to console users.
Security problems in companies
Currently, companies have a variety of cloud deployments, so security breaches are catching the attention of cybercriminals. Said report indicates that the most recurring problems are configuration errors, weak users and passwords, poor authentication, unpatched vulnerabilities, and malicious OSS packages.
A virus is as damaging to an SME as it is to a large enterprise. Therefore, companies must establish strategies to safeguard their investments and data. In this regard, Ramón García indicates that it is important for companies to understand that cybersecurity is a constantly evolving responsibility. Cybercriminals are constantly looking for security flaws, hence, the importance of keeping up to date with the latest technology trends in cybersecurity.
