Xiaomi has created augmented reality (AR) glasses: Wireless Ar Smart Glass Discovery Edition

These glasses feature a retina adaptive display and gesture tracking technology. That is, it accurately registers the movement of the hands and interacts according to the movements made by the user.

Xiaomi presented these glasses at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) technology fair in Barcelona. The company has stated that these wireless glasses have been created to provide an individual user experience. Namely, it does not need to be connected by cable to a device. Because it uses independently developed high-speed interconnection buses.

Some characteristics of the glasses

They weigh 126 grams, which means they are not a physical burden for the user. They calibrated their accuracy, taking into account aspects such as center of gravity, angle, nose support, and even leg spacing.

These glasses use an optical module with MicroOLED displays. They also contain a light guide for sharp images. They have prisms that reflect light in a delimited volume. At the touch of a button, the glass darkens to provide a more immersive viewing experience.

These glasses have augmented reality gesture control to interact with the environment in a more natural way. It accurately records the user’s gestures through the movements of the finger joints.

Micro-gestures on the glasses make it possible for the user to perform simple operations, such as selecting and opening applications. All this can be done without having to use a smartphone to control them.

Purpose of Xiaomi

The purpose of these glasses is to achieve the exact integration between the digital and the real. The company believes that it is important for users to perceive virtual objects with the same intensity and precision as physical objects.

Xiaomi is still working on this prototype. However, they did advance details such as its design and size. They have indicated that the glasses will be available in titanium color and will have three nosepiece sizes. Users with vision problems such as myopia will be able to use an attachable myopia clip.
