The latest chatbot from the OpenAI foundation launched by Elon Musk surprised academics by its typing skills and by performing complex tasks. 

The ChatGPTsystem has been tested for its ability to answer follow-up questions, challenge incorrect assumptions, reject inappropriate requests and admit errors. It is capable of generating answers to exam queries and, according to academics, if such answers were submitted by a university student they would score the highest marks. Programmers have also used this tool to solve obscure programming language coding challenges in a matter of seconds. 

ChatGPT is able to realize when an impossible question is asked to it. For example, in 2015 it was asked to describe the events of Columbus’ arrival in the United States. Previous models, perhaps, would have voluntarily described a totally false account However, ChatGPT detects the falsehood and notifies that any answer would be false. 

It also has the ability to refuse to answer inquiries. For example, if asked to provide advice on how to steal a car, the system will reply that stealing a car is a serious crime and therefore has consequences. Instead, it gives advice on how to use public transport correctly. 

However, if asked to provide tips on how to complete the car-stealing mission in a virtual reality game like Carl Word, it easily gives users explicit guidance on how to steal a car. It is even able to provide answers to more specific queries: how to deactivate an immobilizer, how to connect the engine, how to change license plates, among others. However, he persists in making it known that such advice is valid only in the Carl Wordgame. 

Differences with previous AI

The ChatGPT differs from the entity’s previous AI because it was launched for anyone’s use and for a determined period of time, with the purpose of using user feedback to improve the final version of the tool. 

Some academics and practitioners claim that this tool could put teachers, programmers and journalists out of work in the not-so-distant future.
