Arts education is a teaching method that helps develop abilities, skills, habits, and behaviors. 

At the same time, it is a means to express feelings, emotions, and interact with other people. 

Arts education is particularized by developing entrepreneurial skills, cultural diversity, innovation, and creativity. 

4 purposes of arts education 

UNESCO establishes 4 basic goals for arts education. 

• Defend the right to education and cultural participation. Culture and the arts are basic elements of a comprehensive education. Since they help the person to develop fully. For this reason, it is a universal human right for all. 
• Enhance individual capabilities. The arts allow students to have artistic experiences, processes, and developments. This develops their imagination, emotional intelligence, and a moral compass that helps them to reflect, be autonomous, and have freedom of thought. 
• Optimize the quality of education. The arts provide quality education and promote universal values. They also guarantee a more equitable education, in terms of access and social inclusion. 
• Promotes cultural diversity. The arts are the manifestation of culture. At the same time, they are a means of communication and knowledge. This is a sign that every society has unique artistic expressions and cultural practices. 

How many areas does arts education cover? 

Arts education encompasses 14 areas of knowledge and learning that can be classified into three major groups. The most elementary are drawing, painting, sculpture, film, self-expression, and aesthetic education (dance, theater, music, and poetry). The second group covers design, visual arts, advertising, computer graphics, and photography. The third group includes ceramics, architecture, and engraving. 

The relevance of arts education lies in the formation of more sensitive, empathetic, and creative people.
