The most dangerous sports in the world involve some risk for the people who practice them.

The most dangerous sports, also known as extreme sports, are ideal for people who love to push their bodies to the limit. Since they are sports or leisure activities that present certain difficulties and risks, both to perform them and to the physical integrity of the athlete. They also require great dexterity to avoid injuries, falls, and even death.

Despite the risks and dangers, there are many athletes who are fond of extreme sports. They are people who seek to unload adrenaline and push their bodies to the limit.

Six dangerous sports

Base Jumping

It is a form of skydiving and is considered the most extreme and dangerous sport of all. It consists of jumping in free fall from a fixed object, equipped with a parachute and a special birdman suit. The sport has had a death rate of 1 in 2,300 jumps, and approximately 170 people have lost their lives in the last 30 years.

Parachuting

It is a jump made by parachute from any aerial vehicle or from buildings or mountains. It differs from the previous sport in the magnitude of the jumping distance, which is higher. For this reason, athletes carry a second parachute as a spare. The mortality rate for this sport is 1 in 75,000 jumps.

Tow-in surfing

It is a dangerous surfing modality that involves facing waves over eight meters high in extreme weather conditions. There is also the possibility of being submerged to a depth of up to ten meters; athletes may be trapped by underwater currents and find it difficult to rise to the surface.

Cave diving

It is a practice derived from scuba diving and consists of exploring underwater caverns at great depths. It is dangerous due to factors such as darkness, pressure, hypothermia attacks, or lack of oxygen in the tank. This forces the diver to travel a long distance to reach the surface.

Freestyle motocross

Freestyle is a dangerous form of motocross. It consists of doing jumps, acrobatics, and different pirouettes in the air riding a motocross and landing successfully on the ground.

Heli-skiing

Athletes are launched from a helicopter onto a virgin snow mountain and slide down the slope with skis or a snowboard. The difficulty lies in treading unexplored terrain, without being signposted or without knowledge of the terrain. Likewise, there is a high probability of causing unexpected avalanches.
