Blue economy is the engine of ecosystem recovery, as it promotes respect for the environment.

The World Bank defines blue economy as the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth. In other words, it improves the quality of life and employment, while preserving the well-being of the ecosystem.

Primarily, the great challenge ahead is to change the paradigm of the current economic model, which decouples human socioeconomic development from environmental and ecosystem degradation. Its main purpose is to respect the environment.

Therefore, blue economy seeks to promote a new economic system clear from the idea of continually using and throwing away natural resources. It is the key to recovering ecosystems and raising awareness about the relevance of the resources of oceans and coasts; beyond fishing and tourism.

The principles of blue economy

In principle, it takes a different approach to economic development, sustainable entrepreneurship, and innovation. Some of its principles are based on the laws of physics; the idea of doing more with less, of associating wealth with diversity, seeing waste as a resource, etc.

Blue economy is accessible to all types of consumers because, by imitating nature, its efficiency must be affordable. In addition, it is committed to low-cost innovations that generate jobs and profits through sustainability.

Today’s world is dominated by a linear economy that degrades the world through the massive exploitation of natural resources and the generation of waste. In this situation, ecological balance is the only way to reverse climate change.

From the beginning, this economic model has been linked to the protection of the oceans, and today, it is implemented in all kinds of conservation projects.
